Emotional abuse occurs when the victim is verbally and mentally abused by their attacker. This may come in various forms and is highly damaging to the victim’s mental state and autonomy.

Sexual abuse can show itself as a form of human trafficking and can also be considered domestic violence if physical violence becomes a part of the act.

Sex trafficking or other forms of human trafficking depend on the Transportation systems like truck and bus stops to operate, moving victims from location to location.  

Sex traffickers may groom victims by using love (romantic, friendship, familial) to manipulate victims into cooperating with exploitation.

While there may be various clues that an individual is being sex trafficked, it’s important to recognize the most common signs that it may be occurring.

If you suspect an individual is in danger, alert law enforcement immediately.

Traffickers may be family members, romantic partners, acquaintances, or strangers.
